JR,

considering this was your first term with any war wounds, I would take that as a good practice bout. You have another 5 rounds to defeat the enemy (wonder who that is!).

Summer term 1 finished for us and I already feel violated. The first real term starts for us now with the core courses, along with all the social clubs and the internship fever in the side. Yippee!! Read details on my blog (www.ionbusiness.wordpress.com)

For our team, we targeted 2 markets that no one else went after (Buffs, HiEarners), then 2 products for Others and Singles. For Vodite, we went after Early Adopters and Followers. Multiple R&D is important, as well as spending 10% of ad budget on ad research to maintain shares, and bumping it upto 15-20% when introducing a new product or reintroducing an existing product. Most of all, for the semantic scales, we measure not the ideal value at current period, but what we project will be the ideal value for the next period. This way, we’re not chasing after the segments, but anticipating the trend and direction they are moving so they move to us. Really, it is about following the trend!

Here’s our results after 8 periods. For vodite, 2 groups introduced superior products at Period 7 that targeted Followers, and since the game ends at Period 8, we didn’t have time to counter with an R&D, which is why we lost market shares.

Salsa? What’s going on? Is the Hyderabad heat getting to you? When we encouraged you to go get an MBA from ISB, we thought you would shake up those cobwebs in the upper part of your anatomy. Shaking legs? Why? You planning on salsa’ing your way to the Latino club circuits and work in their general managment division or do you plan to consult for some hot latino babe?

On a more serious note, I liked your disection of the courses you enjoyed (irrespective of how you fared on them!).

Enjoy term 2 and write more frequently!

Akismet had moved the first comment into my spam queue and I only just saw it today, so apologies for the late reply. Are pre-terms a waste of money? I think so. I think ISB should’ve included those for free as part of the overall package or at least at an extremely nominal fee to just cover the cost of faculty and publications. Are they a waste of time? I guess not. To each his own. Some people studied that week – only at home. I did that in class. Some people had fun, I did too. At least week 1 of the core terms was extremely gentle on me and wasn’t the harsh jolt at all that I was expecting – and I do think the pre-terms had a role to soften that. Would I recommend you do the pre-terms? As I mention in another post, if you know the subjects, there’s no need. But my story is very different. I think the answer really is the classic MBA response – it depends

Dude trust me preterms are just a waste of time and money and u just need to relax and party hard.

i guess how ever hard i try to convince u on this but u will only realize this once u pass out of ISB and u will find how much u miss ISB.
