1) The fantastic Dr. Henry Moon teaches our ‘Managing Teams’ class an entirely new way of thinking about obscene CEO compensation (check out Tournament theory). Suddenly life makes sense
2) The equally fantastic (and energetic) Dr. Dishan Kamdar talks about showing different packages to a counterparty in a negotiations class and I can then tie it up [...]

Term 4 and the winds of change
Posted in Uncategorized on September 6, 2008 | Leave a Comment »
Welcome to the supposedly ‘easy’ term. After the bruises of term 3, I think this description is fair, but it’s not a term to be taken lightly. There are some fascinating subjects which are quite important not only from an interview standpoint, but which will also hold you in good stead for your career (OB [...]
Term 3 Highlights

Term 3 was eminently disappointing. No the grades haven’t come out, and yes, I loved the classes – it’s just that I don’t think I was quite ‘in the groove’. Once the grades do come out, I think I will just stand up, dust myself, and move on.
Some highlights of the term that was:
1) NR [...]

Extremely relaxed break. We did have to do a little bit of work to turn in our competitive strategy paper in, but it wasn’t much. I wanted to watch at least 3 movies and have dinners at 3 restaurants in the city. Managed to accomplish 2 each, which wasn’t too bad.

Well, after an extraordinarily long hiatus, I’m back. Not only is this my first blog this year, but it’s also my first blog from the ISB campus. Yes, for those who don’t know, I did join the famed Indian School of Business, a school whose reputation is growing rapidly thanks to FT’s ranking as well as [...]

My flight from Bangalore to Delhi was supposed to leave at 7:10 pm. I was at the airport at 5:15pm after an hour on the congested Airport Road (I have no idea how Bangaloreans manage to survive the nightmare that traffic is). Anyways, after an hour in the Jet Airways lounge, I figured I’d give [...]
Dec 18

Yesterday was eventful. My MBA admission saga came to an end with INSEAD’s decision. If that was disappointing, what was more painful was the fact that I was away from my daughter on her first birthday. I was in Bangalore for work and to help get my sister settled in her new house, while my [...]

What the heck does jarajago mean? In Hindi, you could say it means ‘please awaken’, which would give you the impression that this blog’s purpose in life is to enlighten others and arouse them from deep slumber (much like the recent Tata Tea ad). In a way, I hope it does give folks food for thought. But in [...]
